Polymer chemistry consulting

I work on the relationship between polymer structure, interactions, and reactivity. This connects molecular design with applications in surfaces, formulation, delivery, and recycling.

01 / Molecular design & synthesis

Choose and build the molecular structure needed for the application.

  • Functional monomers and small-molecule synthesis.
  • Controlled radical polymerization, including ATRP and RAFT.
  • Amphiphilic polymers, molecular bottlebrushes, and tailored architectures.
  • Composition and functionalization to tune solubility, stability, and interactions.

02 / Interfaces, formulation & delivery

Use those structures to control how polymers interact with cargo, water, surfaces, and biological environments.

  • Packaging hydrophobic cargo for hydrophilic and aqueous environments.
  • Polymeric carriers and formulation strategies for drug delivery.
  • Surface polymer brushes and functional interfaces.
  • Tailored biological interactions, anti-fouling behavior, and lubrication.

My current research in the Zapotoczny Group at Jagiellonian University focuses on surface polymer brushes.

03 / Transformation & recycling

Apply the same structure–reactivity understanding to modifying existing polymers and evaluating their chemical recycling.

  • Household and commodity plastics as feedstocks.
  • Chemical modification, degradation, and depolymerization routes.
  • Reaction assessment, literature review, and experimental planning.
  • Relationships between polymer composition, reactivity, and potential products.

Related research: depolymerization of poly(n-butyl methacrylate).

Across each stage / Research & characterization

Experimental design, synthesis troubleshooting, literature evaluation, and interpretation of GPC/SEC, NMR, FTIR, DLS, DSC, and UV/VIS data support work across these areas.

How we work

  1. Discuss: the material, question, existing results, and constraints.
  2. Scope: agree deliverables, timeline, and fees.
  3. Investigate: review the evidence and develop recommendations.

Work can be a focused review, a defined project, or ongoing scientific advice.
